Mission Statement

“To host the 2018 National Transplant Games successfully, by ensuring quality competition, a safe and stimulating environment and a superb experience for all participants”

THE NATIONAL TRANSPLANT GAMES (NTG)

The NTG is held every two years during the interim period when the WTG does not take place. These Games have been hosted in the past in cities such as Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban and Cape Town since the mid-nineties, but never before in Port Elizabeth. The Eastern Cape Transplant Sports Association sees this proposal to host the 13th National Transplant Games (NTG) in 2018 as an opportunity to frontline Port Elizabeth as a sports destination in South Africa.

The objectives of the NTG are to:

  • demonstrate the improved quality of life following transplantation and through that, promote awareness for organ donation and transplantation;

  • show recipients’ gratitude towards, and recognition of living donors and families of deceased donors;

  • celebrate the ability for transplanted athletes to meet and to collectively demonstrate their gratitude for being able to participate in sporting events;

  • act as a vehicle for transplanted athletes to attain the qualifying standards required for selection to the South African Team to participate in the World Transplant Games 2019 in Newcastle, England.
